Financial world has been impacted and transformed by a real revolution due to recent advances in Artificial Intelligence. New products and solutions based on disruptive technologies in such as Smart Robots, Deep Learning, and Cognitive Expert Advisors among others, like Blockchain (cryptocurrencies) are changing the status quo in many countries, including Brazil. Researchers and entrepreneurs in Fintechs (high-tech startups focusing on the financial market) as well as large financial companies have invested significant time and resources in the application of new technologies to the market. Moreover, finance is also an excellent field for validation and testing of various intelligent techniques, as it provides a data-driven environment with objective rules and accessible to autonomous agents across the global network.
The WAIAF 2019 is scheduled to take place on 14 and 15 May at ITA. This workshop aims at integrating, in a high level, researchers and practitioners of Artificial Intelligence applied to Finance. Focusing on meeting the current demands of companies in this economic sector, the participants have the opportunity to present and discuss new methodologies, tools, challenges, and technologies. Therefore, this event contributes by shrinking the distance between, researchers and practitioners, thereby allowing a better targeting of research in academia and access to new technologies and results by the industry.
Based on 2018 edition’s data, we expect an audience of approximately 200 people by 2019. This audience should be composed of researchers, professionals and students linked to the major areas of Artificial Intelligence and Finance throughout the country, especially from São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Researchers from other countries were also invited.
Researchers and practitioners are invited to contribute to the Workshop of Artificial Intelligence Applied to Finance 2019 by submitting papers that illustrate research results, projects, platforms, surveying works and real-world experiences that describe relevant advances in the area of Applications of Artificial Intelligence to Finance. Original research papers are welcome, but not required! Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Automated Investment Analysis
• Automated markets and Trading Agents
• Big Data in Finance
• Blockchain Technology
• Data Mining in Finance
• Heterogeneous Agent Models in Economics and Finance

• Neural networks and Deep Learning for Forecasting
• Sentiment Analysis in Finance
• Smart Robots for finance
• Applied Bayesian Networks.
The papers may be written in Portuguese or English, as a PDF file. A paper must have no more than 8 pages in two column format (10 point font size) and will be presented orally at the Workshop.
