TALE is the IEEE Education Society’s flagship Asia-Pacific (IEEE Region 10) conference, catering to researchers and practitioners with an interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education – with a particular emphasis on electrical and electronic engineering, telecommunications, computer engineering, computer science and allied disciplines – as well as those interested in the innovative use of digital technologies for learning, teaching and assessment in any discipline. The TALE series was first established in 2012 to complement the IEEE Education Society's other, very popular Frontiers in Education and EDUCON conferences, which serve North America (IEEE Regions 1-7) and Europe, the Middle East and Africa (IEEE Region 8), respectively. Following highly successful conferences in Hong Kong (2012 and 2017); Bali, Indonesia (2013); Wellington, New Zealand (2014); Zhuhai, China (2015); Bangkok, Thailand (2016), and Wollongong, Australia (2018). KEY DATES Paper Submission EXTENDED Deadline: 31 July 2019 Notification of Acceptance: 20 September 2019 Camera-ready submission & Registration: 09 October 2019 (Early-bird rate) Camera-ready submission & Registration: 20 October 2019 (Regular rate) Tutorial proposals: 20 October 2019 Conference: 10 - 13 December 2019 PAPER SUBMISSION AND REVIEW Prospective authors are invited to submit either Full papers (6 - 8 A4 pages) or Short papers (4 - 6 A4 pages) in standard IEEE double-column format. Page limits are inclusive of all tables, figures, references, and appendices. All papers must be prepared using the template at http://tale2019.org/authors-and-presenters/guidlines-papers-submission Use of any other IEEE templates is NOT acceptable as there are subtle differences between those templates and the conference template that will affect the consistency in appearance of papers published in the proceedings. Importantly: • Do not change the paper size (A4) or margins in the template. • The headers and footers must remain empty. (They should not contain page numbers or anything else!) • Formatting of the paper must be done using the pre-defined MS-Word styles in the template, rather than manually. The paper must use all the predefined font styles, sizes etc. as per the template. • Basic examples of citations and references are included in the template. For more comprehensive information on citations and references, the IEEE Reference Guide at http://ieeeauthorcenter.ieee.org/wp-content/uploads/IEEE-Reference-Guide.pdf (Note that where are conflicts between the template and the IEEE Reference Guide, the IEEE Reference Guide prevails.) Papers will be accepted only by electronic submission at https://edas.info/newPaper.php?c=26103 , where there you can create an account and submit your contribution. A double-blind peer-review process will be used to evaluate all submitted papers. Each full registration for the conference will cover a maximum of one paper; each student registration will cover a single paper only. Extra papers must be registered separately and will incur additional costs (see the website for details). PUBLICATION AND INDEXING Proceedings of previous TALE conferences can be found at https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/xpl/conhome.jsp?punumber=1802630 and have been indexed in Scopus, Ei Compendex and CPCI. All accepted and registered full papers that are presented at TALE 2019 will be published in the conference proceedings (USB with ISBN). The conference proceedings will be submitted to the IEEE Xplore® digital library. Content loaded into Xplore is made available by IEEE to its abstracting and indexing partners, including Elsevier (Scopus, Ei Compendex), Clarivate Analytics (CPCI—part of Web of Science) and others, for potential inclusion in their respective databases. Opportunities to publish revised and expanded versions in Scopus-indexed journals will also be made available to authors of selected papers.
