Dear Colleagues,

Metabolomics is a constantly evolving field. Progress in this area is closely related to the advancements in analytical techniques (MS, NMR, and others), together with the development of powerful chemometric tools. Among these techniques, MS—whether used independently or in combination with chromatographic methods—has become a key tool in metabolomics, allowing the sensitive and accurate identification and quantification of metabolites.

This Special Issue welcomes contributions on all MAPs, with a focus on both volatile and non-volatile phytometabolites. Compounds must be detected, quantified, or spatially mapped using MS, either as a standalone technique or in conjunction with chromatographic or other hyphenated methods. MS employs either high- or low-resolution instrumentation, with a scope including a broad range of specialized metabolites, such as polyphenols, terpenes, alkaloids, quinones, and sulfur-containing compounds, among others. Additionally, primary metabolites such as carbohydrates and lipids may be considered, provided their analysis is clearly linked to pharmacological insights into MAPs.
