Introduction:
Information & Communication Technologies have changed the globe in last few decades. At the same time natural disasters, climate change and global warming have made already prone to disaster regions more vulnerable than ever.
Different areas of the world are likely to suffer from either geological, meteorological, hydrological disasters, disease epidemics or outbreaks, depending on where they lie on the archipelago or a tectonic plate. However, these types are not exhaustive; there may be spillover effects which are disastrous in their own way
Messages, wireless communication and satellite imagery are just some examples of how disaster related information can be used by people for evacuation, NGOs and governments to mobilize the needed resources for reconstruction efforts and volunteer workers to help and provide aid to the affected areas and/or people.
Targeted assistance and aid is essential to relief efforts’ success, and that is impossible in cases where information black holes occur. To avoid these holes, the role of ICTs becomes more than important and there is a more need for developing, testing and scaling up ICT applications in areas of disaster prevention/preparedness and governance. Therefore suggested workshop hosting speakers from Islamic countries will provide an opportunity for active collaboration and synergy between researchers and ICT industry in the area of ICT for disaster prevention. It will also be an opportunity for ICT researchers to learn from digital interventions in the area of governance and
disaster prevention.

Workshop Objectives:
- Combining academics, researchers, field workers and policy maker working in the area of disaster prediction and management, urban planing etc to arise awareness on ICT role in this subject and presents new technologies.

- Provide an opportunity for collaboration between researchers for sharing knowledge
about innovative technological interventions, groundbreaking applications, alongside
lessons learned form developing countries around the Muslim world.

- Provide an opportunity for ICT researchers to learn from digital interventions in the area of disaster management and prevention.
