Introduction
The majority of the leaders in the emerging democratic countries are often most unwilling to relinquish power once given the privilege to serve in public office. The problem of electoral irregularity in the African region may be difficult to solve without identifying what can satisfy politicians like political power. The principles and values of democracy are being undermined in the region in preference for human’s opinions on how society should be governed. So, there is the need to identify the missing link in African democracy. So much has been written and said on why leaders would prefer to remain in government having no objections from the members of the public. Objective
The political problems in Africa cannot be solved by politicians alone, hence the need for an interdisciplinary approach to addressing the claims and objections arising from the use and misuse of power and authority in Africa. Scholars and researchers in the humanities and social sciences are the enlisted contributors to this book. So, researchers in Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy, Religion, History, Political Science, Economics, Language and Linguistics, Communication, Media Studies, African Studies and other related disciplines are hereby invited to contribute to the book, explaining the ways African political system can be aligned with global practices. Unlike journal articles, contributors are encouraged to present their chapters using simple and correct sentences that literate members of the society can easily understand to enable them have access to the content of the book.
