Call for Papers
Knowledge graphs are essential for organizing available data, discovering and representing relationships, and enabling inference.
This workshop will explore how knowledge graphs can be used to address the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) . Knowledge graphs and mapped relationships will address many of the challenges of working across the SDG datasets and help discover insights from the collected data.
This workshop will cover topics from the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) supported by the United Nations covering topics from poverty to healthcare, education, and beyond.
As such, this workshop will bring together a community of practitioners and policymakers to discuss ongoing industry work and academic research efforts that can address the SDGs of the UN. We will provide access to public data and experts and the session will culminate in a collaborative ideation exercise designed to foster a community and forum for open discussion of solutions.
Our workshop will build off of submitted papers (see the section below and ”Call for Papers” for greater details) and the ideas presented in a collaborative ideation exercise that will comprise an onsite group brainstorming session on the SDGs.
By the end of the workshop ideally, we will have identified teams willing to address and collaborate on working to address solutions for the SDGs. With this in mind, we encourage people to work in advance of the exercise by (e.g. exploring the data, researching the SDGs, creating PoCs, etc.).
We will discuss:
If you are working in the areas that align with the SDGs, this is a great opportunity to come and meet the field experts, practitioners of similar fields, present your work, get access to UN data, brainstorm with other participants to find the best solutions (e.g. for climate, education, finance and economic growth, healthcare, etc. ).
Call and Submission
Acceptance into the workshop is based on paper submission. Speaking slots will be provided to participants based on the accepted paper submissions. Requirements summary follows:
We will be evaluating and accepting unpublished recent work and works in progress in the field in the context of SDGs. Submissions will be evaluated on how well the submission articulates applicability of the problem solution, practicality of the proposed implementation solution, as well as the and impactfulness towards addressing the key challenges of the SDGs.
Participants can use provided data sets for the basis of their work or their own data sets. All submissions will be done electronically through PubPub. The accepted submissions will be published on the workshop website.
