Introduction
Over the last decade, the Internet of Things (IoT) has infiltrated diverse applications, spanning lifestyle, healthcare, and even military domains. New IoT technologies and applications continue to emerge daily. However, achieving widespread adoption of IoT requires staying abreast of recent technological advances, and comprehending the associated challenges and intricate implementation details. This exploration includes addressing technical issues like hardware and software design/integration, network technologies, security, interoperability, and data management and processing. Furthermore, a comprehensive examination of economic, social, and sustainability considerations stemming from the introduction of such a disruptive model is essential. Additionally, attending to issues like governance, privacy, and compliance with data protection regulations is paramount for securing genuine global approval of the IoT. The primary aim of this project is to encourage researchers and practitioners to share their experiences and recent work on the subject. This book seeks to expand upon the knowledge established in the previous work titled "Internet of Things: Challenges, Advances, and Applications," published by CRC Press in 2018 https://www.taylorfrancis.com/books/edit/10.4324/9781315155005/internet-things-qusay-hassan-atta-ur-rehman-khan-sajjad-madani, by analyzing the state-of-the-art of IoT and its evolution over the years. It will delve into the key developments and adoption challenges that have emerged (or persisted) over the years. The book will also discuss how other computer science paradigms such as Big Data, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Machine Learning can play integral roles in the context of IoT. Finally, the book will present real-life case studies showcasing innovative IoT implementations, providing valuable insights for both academia and industry. Objectives - To address IoT adoption challenges and implementation issues. - To explore the emerging trends in the IoT. - To highlight and discuss the recent developments and technological advances in IoT. - To propose new models and practical solutions of IoT. - To present case studies and innovative applications of IoT. Readership This book is tailored for graduate students, academics, and researchers engaged in the study of IoT, computer science, networks and telecom engineering, distributed computing, applied sciences, and business innovation. Additionally, it serves as a valuable resource for industry professionals and policymakers engaged in the implementation and regulation of IoT projects.
