Call for papers – seeking high impact research, literature review and position papers

The Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Computational Methods in Heritage Science (IJCMHS) invites authors to submit manuscripts for consideration in this scholarly journal. The following describes the mission, coverage and guidelines for submission to IJCMHS.

Mission

Cultural heritage is the repository of humanity’s identity, a qualitative measure of peoples’ progress in time. The diversity in cultural heritage is immensely rich and reflects the richness of human civilization through the ages. Cultural heritage is apparently a deep source of knowledge, which it naturally encodes. In all its forms, tangible or intangible, cultural heritage has been recognized as a precious entity and significant efforts and funds have been allocated to its preservation, interpretation and safeguarding. To this end, several sciences have contributed over the recent decades, so much that the borders among sciences and the arts in this sector started to blur, formulating the domain of ‘heritage science’. Apparently, this domain corresponds to a broad field of research with significant innovations for multiple cultural heritage research questions, including digitization, documentation, analysis, description, interpretation, dissemination, reproduction, education, storytelling, sustainability and management. Recognizing the cross-disciplinary dynamics in this domain, the International Journal of Computational Methods in Heritage Science (IJCMHS) focuses on the application of engineering, information technology and sciences in support of cultural heritage studies. Although IJCMHS is a clearly cross-disciplinary publication it serves to promote the computational advancements in the recently formulated domain of ‘heritage science’. Topics include digital optical documentation, 3D scanning, GIS, archaeometry and material analysis, databases, data modeling, data and scientific visualization and representations, open-data, ontologies, cataloguing, data organization, scientific tools, innovative applications for education and tourism, 3D printing.

Coverage

• Digital documentation, optical 3D documentation

Submission

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit their original empirical research articles 3,000-5,000 words in length. Interested authors must consult the journal’s guidelines for manuscript submissions at http://www.igi-global.com/publish/contributor-resources/before-you-write/ prior to submission. All submitted articles will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis by no fewer than 3 members of the journal’s Editorial Review Board. Final decision regarding acceptance/revision/rejection will be based on the reviews received from the reviewers and at the sole discretion of the Editor-in-Chief. All manuscripts must be submitted through the E-Editorial Discovery online submission manager: http://www.igi-global.com/submission/submit-manuscript/?jid=145079
