Introduction

Forest fires effect on ecology and economy of different countries. Forest fires caused mainly due to lightning activity and anthropogenic loading. But vegetation and fire weather conditions should be taken into account while forest fire danger an risk are predicted, monitored and assessed. Variety of devices and software can be used to predict, monitor and assess forest fire danger and risk. Precision of predicted information can be improved using different deterministic, probabilistic and empiric models. It is important to simulate surface and crown forest fire initiation to understand catastrophic processes of forest fire danger. Wide prospects can be open when GIS and remote sensing are used together with advanced mathematical models. Superposition of different results will lead to improvement of existing systems to predict, monitor and assess forest fire danger and risk.

Objective

This book will aim to provide conjugate information on predicting, monitoring and assessing forest fire danger and risk in one source. It will be written for professionals who want to improve their understanding of the forest fire danger and risk problems at different levels of the information and knowledge in this field of science. Forest fire danger and risk problems can be considered from the level of local ignition to global scale based on different results obtained in forest science and engineering.

Target Audience

The target audience of this book will be composed of professionals and researchers working in the field of Predicting, Monitoring and Assessing of Forest Fire Danger and Risk disciplines, e.g. forest fire danger factors, forest fire weather, forest fuel, fire statistics, software and devices to be used in related forest fire danger researches, GIS analysis and remote sensing, fire risk and different methods to predict, monitor and assess forest fire danger and risk. Moreover, the book will provide insights and support executives concerned with the management of in forestry to prevent forest fires risk. Furthermore, this book can be useful for insurance companies, computer engineers who develop new system to predict, monitor and assess forest fire danger and risk.
