The installation, cleaning, and inspection of photovoltaic cells, as well as the installation and inspection of energy transmission lines, are crucial for high performance clean energy generation and transmission. Mobile robots, as well as robotic manipulators, have already been heavily applied in a wide range of applications in the energy sector. Motion planning and inverse kinematic solutions for robots working in the energy sector are important subjects that effect energy consumption, precision, and the cost and speed of performing tasks. Several inverse kinematic solvers have already been investigated. Geometrical solutions for inverse kinematics were an earlier approach to dealing with this problem. More recent approaches include machine learning approaches, such as extended Kalman filters and deep neural networks. Other than these computational approaches, nature-inspired optimization algorithms such as genetic algorithms, particle swarm optimization, and ant colony optimization that try to mimic nature to solve optimization problems are of great interest. However, other than energy consumption and control effort required for robots to perform their tasks, precision and speed are additional important criteria.
Motivated by the aforementioned issues, this Special Issue invites original research papers on techniques, methods, applications, and industrial case studies reporting multicriteria inverse kinematic solutions and motion planning for robots working in the energy sector. This Special Issue will provide the means to gather leading researchers around the world to publish their up-to-date techniques and share their latest results, ideas, and topics for possible future research. Dr. Mojtaba Ahmadieh Khanesar Guest Editor Manuscript Submission Information Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website. Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Energies is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI. Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2200 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
