Colour Turn: An Interdisciplinary and International Open Journal Colour Turn was launched in 2018 as an open-access journal of the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen and explores the world of interdisciplinary research into the complex subject colour. This issue is dedicated to answering the upcoming questions related to colour in each fields of research. We are surrounded by colour in our everyday life and we use them to communicate ideas, thoughts, and information. Colours can bring about a sense of well-being or a sense of discomfort in our surrounding atmosphere. In terms of culture and communication, an exploration of the specific meanings and usage of colours as a design element in the different art forms like painting, film, theater, dance, stage design, costume design is needed. In analogue and digital media, dealing with colour poses a real challenge to producers. A look into film history as well as in the history of colour television or the internet can confirm this challenge. All these processes cannot be viewed as complete. Historically, colour has also had an impact in the development of language and culture. In addition, colour in different cultures has its own uses and, among other things, plays a major role in religions and their rituals. A critical look can also reveal the significance of colour in the human mind, for example: in processing of light stimuli for visual perception, or influencing memory, identity, and social relationships. Many more aspects should be mentioned here. At Colour Turn we publish high-quality and innovative research contributions from all subject areas, which first undergo a transparent peer review process. The editorial team and experts are listed on our website https://colourturn.net/. There you will also find detailed information regarding the concept of the journal, which is permanently accessible digitally and will be published once a year in print edition. We welcome researchers tackling above mentioned questions, and many others in the following fields: Colour in Interdisciplinary Context, Colour & the Mind, Colour & Nature, Colour & Technology, Colour & Communication, Colour in Art & Media, and Colour in Culture & Society.
