Dear Colleagues,
Pediatric radiology provides crucial insights that can enable early and accurate diagnoses, guide therapeutic decisions, and support long-term disease management in children by allowing a comprehensive view of the patient. The field of imaging has seen remarkable advancements in recent years due to the advent of artificial intelligence. The integration of machine learning, automated segmentation, and radiomics into pediatric imaging workflows has the potential to enable the development of precision and personalized medicine for young patients while also improving patient safety and comfort. This Special Issue, “Clinical Updates in Pediatric Radiology”, will explore the latest innovations, technological breakthroughs, and clinical applications that are shaping the future of pediatric imaging. We welcome original research and reviews covering, but not limited to, the following topics: Advances in MRI and CT techniques: Motion/dose reduction, high-resolution imaging, and new clinical applications; Artificial intelligence and machine learning in pediatric radiology and neuroradiology: Automation, diagnostic support, new imaging biomarkers, predictive modelling, reports, work flows, and shared learning; New description/classification of diseases and the evaluation of therapies based on imaging. By bringing together leading experts and researchers in this field, this Special Issue of JCM will foster meaningful discussions on current challenges and opportunities in pediatric radiology, ultimately enhancing patient care and outcomes.
