COMPSAC is the IEEE Computer Society Signature Conference on Computers, Software and Applications. It is a major international forum for academia, industry, and government to discuss research results and advancements, emerging problems, and future trends in computer and software technologies and applications. The technical program includes keynote addresses, research papers, industrial case studies, plenary and specialized panels, fast abstracts, a doctoral symposium, poster sessions, and a number of workshops and tutorials on emerging and important topics. COMPSAC was founded in 1977 by Dr. Stephen S. Yau, and was held in Chicago, Illinois, USA until 1986. In 1987, COMPSAC moved to Tokyo, alternating locations between Japan and the U.S., and then began rotating from the US, Europe, and Asia in the late 1990s. IEEE/IPSJ International Symposium on Applications and the Internet (SAINT) was co-located with COMPSAC for a number of years until it merged fully with COMPSAC in 2013. The SAINT symposium archive is available at http://www.ipsj.or.jp/english/saint/. In 2006, COMPSAC was designated the IEEE Computer Society Signature Conference on Computers, Software & Applications. Each year we invite IEEE leaders, industry innovators, and academic researchers to explore the state-of-the-art in computing as it relates to a specific theme, chosen annually by the conference leadership. |

COMPSAC 2020 symposium on Autonomous Systems (ASYS) is an integral part of the overall IEEE COMPSAC 2020 conference. We propose ASYS symposium as a forum for discussion of ideas and results in a wide spectrum of topics related to autonomy in technical systems covering theory, design, implementation, application and analysis of autonomous systems. Autonomous behavior is defined as an ability to act without direct supervision from outside entities (humans or other devices). Such a behavior, recently implemented in many practically utilized systems such as autonomous vehicles, autonomous software agents, autonomous robots and others, is becoming prominent for the next generation engineering systems. In this symposium we foresee a highly fruitful and constructive discussions involving top-level experts both from academia and industry about the current state and future perspectives of autonomous systems. A list of particular relevant areas for contributions to the AUS symposium includes, but is not limited to:
