Call for Papers:
Special Issue "Advances in Complex Networks" in the journal Big Data and Cognitive Computing The full call for papers is available on the official website: https://www.mdpi.com/journal/BDCC/special_issues/AEABINA594 ===== Paper Submission: All papers need to be submitted electronically through the website: https://www.mdpi.com/journal/BDCC/special_issues/AEABINA594 ===== Important Dates: Abstract Registration Due: 28th January 2026 Submission Deadline: 28th March 2026 ===== Scopes: Complex networks are a young and active research area that has its roots in a very classical area of information technology, namely graph theory. In fact, complex networks are networks with non-trivial topological properties, usually with thousands, millions, or even billions of nodes, representing a large number of real systems. Their study has become possible since the 2000s thanks to the enormous development of very powerful hardware systems that allow the processing of enormous amounts of data and, in particular, the complex algorithms that characterize them. Complex networks are studied and applied in diverse fields such as computer networks, biological networks, brain and neurological networks, social networks, climate networks, artificial neural networks, technological networks, political networks, blockchains, the Internet of Things, etc. This Special Issue will consolidate and disseminate knowledge on the theoretical aspects and applications of complex networks and stimulate interdisciplinary collaboration and new discussions on the topic. We encourage the submission of original, high-quality papers that address the theoretical challenges and illustrate possible applications to the diverse areas of complex networks. Potential topics for this Special Issue include, but are not limited to, the following: Definition of new concepts, approaches, techniques, and algorithms (theoretical foundations) related to complex networks; Application of complex networks concept and approaches to computer networks; Application of complex networks concept and approaches to biological networks; Application of complex networks concept and approaches to neurological networks also (but not limited to) to investigate neurological diseases; Application of complex networks concept and approaches to the study of the brain and the connectome of simple and complex organisms; Application of complex networks concept and approaches to social networks; Application of complex networks concept and approaches to climate networks; Application of complex networks concept and approaches to artificial neural networks; Application of complex networks concept and approaches to technological networks; Application of complex networks concept and approaches to political networks; Application of complex networks concept and approaches to blockchains; Application of complex networks concept and approaches to Internet of Things. We request valuable contributions and are ready for a fruitful exchange of ideas and knowledge. Please do not hesitate to contact us to request further information. ===== Keywords: complex networks graphs computer networks biological networks neurological networks connectomes brain analysis social networks climate networks artificial neural networks technological networks political networks blockchains internet of things ===== Guest Editors: Prof. Dr. Domenico Ursino Department of Information Engineering, Polytechnic University of Marche, 60121 Ancona, Italy Email: [email protected] Website:https://www.univpm.it/Entra/Ingegneria_1/docname/idsel/754/docname/DOMENICO%20URSINO Dr. Gianluca Bonifazi Department of Information Engineering (DII), Polytechnic University of Marche, 60131 Ancona, Italy Email: [email protected] Website: https://dii.univpm.it/gianluca-bonifazi/ Dr. Michele Marchetti Department of Information Engineering, Polytechnic University of Marche, 60121 Ancona, Italy Email: [email protected] https://scholar.google.co.in/citations?user=LL_iWhUAAAAJ&hl=th |
