Conference Theme: Best Practices of Applied LearningThe 13th Annual Conference on Applied Learning in Higher Education (CALHE) will take place in St. Joseph, MO on April 2 & 3, 2020 on the campus of Missouri Western State University. This year's conference theme examines the “Best Practices of Applied Learning.” This broad theme should allow and encourage submissions of applied learning activities in all of its various forms. Submissions do not have to directly encompass the theme. We welcome any submission that may address an applied learning activity, community engagement or research, including theoretical and philosophical foundations of applied learning. Presenters may submit their work as an individual paper (that will be placed on a panel with others), poster, panel presentation (three or more speakers), roundtable, or as an applied learning demonstration. Presenters at this year’s conference will also have an opportunity to submit their applied learning activity or research in the upcoming Journal of Applied Learning in Higher Education (JALHE). Applied Learning focuses on learning that occurs in contexts outside of the traditional classroom setting, such as experiential learning, study abroad programs, independent research experiences, internships or practica, service-learning, client-based projects, or co-curricular programming. This year’s conference will provide a venue for scholars, practitioners, students and industry leaders to gather and share their work on the best practices of applied learning. |
