The opening of communication proposals for all participants aims at disseminating local and regional historical work and the sharing of challenges as well as obstacles encountered by researchers throughout their research process. In the same way, it seeks to reflect on what Local History is and its diverse potentialities, in particular its close relationship with the communities it addresses. In addition to the usual thematic axes, which have challenged researchers and scholars to present their works, the third edition of the International Congress on Local History will take place in a year that will certainly be marked by the beginning of the reflections around three important periods of world and Portugal history : the approach of the bicentennial of the Liberal Revolution of 1820; the analysis of the period that followed the end of World War I and the evocation of the 80th Anniversary of the beginning of World War II. In this sense, this edition also invites scholars who are dedicated to these themes to present their contributions. Proposals for communication about Local History in contemporary times can be conceived around the following thematic axis, without excluding others correlated: • Reflections on theory and methodology of local history; • What it means and represents this discipline; • History and Community; • The importance of local history in secondary and higher education; • Themes and researches involving the history of a region (18th-20th centuries); • Municipalities and Local Power; • The role of local institutions and associations; • Liberalism on a regional and local scale: “expressions of its emergence, ruptures and resistance”. • Post-war in regional and local space: changes and continuities.
